WHAT ARE IPE SLATS?
Ipe are Types of Hardwood, Tigerwood, Brazilian Tiger, Teak, etc…..Super Hard, Super Durable….Initial cost is more than common types of hardwoods such as Oak, but over the long run are actually money saving woods in maintenance (upkeep)
4.) Ipe decking is a sustainable decking material. One of the factors involved in determing the sustainability of decking materials is how long they last. Ipe decking is one of the longest lasting natural decking materials on earth.
3.) Ipe decking has an extremely low life cycle cost. Some people look at only the short term initial cost of a decking material. If you take a longer view of total costs of decking materials, Ipe decking has been analyzed and valued as the lowest overall life-cycle cost decking material.
2.) Ipe decking is a rich chocolaty brown all-natural beautiful decking material. Ipe decking ranges in color from light browns to medium and dark browns with a variety of shades in between. The exotic figuring, striping and grain variations add natural beauty marks and character to Ipe decking.
WHAT ARE PLASTIC COMPOSITE SLATS
Composite decking is made using a co-extrusion process where all of the raw materials are combined and then introduced into an extruder that melts the mixture and forces it through a “die” to form the dimensional lumber shape. While all composites are designed to hold up over time better than traditional lumber, some manufacturers go even further. For example decking is produced using a unique co-extrusion process that places a tough, capped composite around three sides of the board. The capped layer is fully bonded to the substrate to prevent delamination. This process not only adds a seamless, integrated layer of protection against stains, spills and everyday foot traffic, the hard shell also contains UV inhibitors that help protect the decking from fading over time. The choice of Finish throughout the Composite Slats are either Redwood or Cedar
Although heavier than wood, composites offer many advantages, including resistance to rot, and the ability to never warp or splinter. Paint? Sealer? Stains? Nope. Never
